Harriet Applegate
Harriet Applegate, Cleveland Heights, is the executive secretary, North Shore AFLCIO . Ms. Applegate was elected its first woman leader in the labor group's history. She is a lifelong union political activist and served in a number of positions in the Cleveland and Cincinnati labor movements, including field representative for the national AFLCIO
Bill Cervenik
Bill Cervenik, Euclid mayor since 2004; Mayor Cervenik is a certified public with a long history civic and community participation. The Mayor's Community Associations are: President - Euclid Exchange Club, Treasurer - Club 59'ers, member of American Institute of C.P.A.'s, Irish American Club, Euclid Slovenian Society, Euclid Chamber of Commerce and the Audit Committee of Euclid City Schools. He is a Board member of the RTA. He formerly served as the Board Member - Euclid Family YMCA, Trustee - Euclid Development Corp. and was the Chamber's Euclid Business Person of the Year in 1995 and 2007.
Mark Davis
Mark Davis, is a labor lawyer and staff representative with AFSCME Ohio Council 8. Mr. Davis is a former staff attorney and vice-president of SEIU, Local 47 an 8000 member local union representing public sector, as well as private sector employees. He has been a resident of Lakewood for twenty-five years.
Ann Marie Donegan
Ann Marie Donegan, Olmsted Falls, Council President Pro Tempore since 2001. Ms. Donegan is a Registered Nurse and President of AMD Consulting Services (Health Care and Managed Care management). She serves as a member of the CERT team, the Historical Society of Olmsted Falls and is a board member of Southwest General Hospital. She was selected as one of Cleveland Magazine Most Interesting Person in 2001, Outstanding Fellow, Cleveland State University Leadership Academy, in 2004 and is a former member of the Cuyahoga County Work Force Investment Board.
Mike Foley
Mike Foley, Cleveland, is a Democratic State Representative from the 14th House District (Parma Height, Brook Park and many of the western neighborhoods of Cleveland). Representative Foley is a leading voice in the state for urban and neighborhood revitalization. Representative Foley serves as Chairman of the Ohio House Housing Urban Revitalization Committee, is a member of the Alternative Energy Committee, the Civil and Commercial Law Committee and the Ways and Means Committee. He has worked on issues including foreclosures, alternative energy, the environment, cable deregulation, retiree benefits, consumer rights and tax code reform.
Stuart Garson
Stuart Garson, Moreland Hills, is a practicing attorney for over 34 years. Mr. Garson has served on civic and non-profit boards including the Ohio Association of Justice, Past president of Park Synagogue, Past member of the Moreland Hills Planning Commission, and was appointed by Senator Sherrod Brown to chair Ohio’s Southern District Commission for the selection of the U.S Attorney and Marshal. He received his Juris Doctorate from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. In 2003 he was inducted into the Ohio Association of Justice’s Workers’ Compensation Hall of Fame.
Ronald V. Johnson Jr.
Ronald V. Johnson Jr., South Euclid, lawyer and executive at KeyBank. Mr. Johnson’s community and civic involvement includes membership on the Board of Commissioners for the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority as well as leadership roles on several local non-profit boards and professional organizations. Ron earned his bachelor of business administration in finance from Cleveland State University, his master’s in business administration from Baldwin-Wallace College and his law degree from the University of Akron School of Law.
Dr. Gus Kious
Dr. Gus Kious, Cleveland Heights, is the President of Huron Hospital with a focus in medical operations and chronic disease management. He presently serves on the Windemere Renaissance Board which is dedicated to the development of property in the vicinity of Windemere Methodist Church in East Cleveland. Dr. Kious and Huron Hospital have numerous awards for work in sustainability and meeting community needs. He was the Co-Chair of the Visioning Committee for Cleveland Heights, which developed a long-range planning document that has been used for 10 years.
Reverend Marvin McMickle
Reverend Marvin McMickle, Shaker Heights, has been the senior Pastor of Antioch Baptist Church in Cleveland since 1986. He earned a Ph.D. degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1998. He has been the president of the Karamu House Performing Arts Center, the Cleveland Branch of the NAACP and the Greater Cleveland Urban League. Rev. McMickle was also president of the Shaker Heights Board of Education from 1986-1990. He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of Cleveland State University and a Professor of Preaching at Ashland Theological Seminary in Ashland, OH.
Sonny Nardi
Sonny Nardi, Broadview Heights, is President of Teamsters Local Union 416, and has been active in the International Brotherhood of Teamsters since 1981. Mr. Nardi is active in many other organizations: He sits on the board of the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, was appointed to the Democratic National Committee, representing Ohio, was a member of the Executive Committee for the Ohio Democratic Party and served on the Labor Advisory Council for Governor Taft.
Betty K. Pinkney
Betty K. Pinkney, Cleveland, has practiced law for more than 30 years and is the former District Director for U.S. Representative Stephanie Tubbs Jones. She is a graduate of Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and earned her Doctorate in Public Administration from The Levin College. She is also a former public school teacher. Ms. Pinkney has served on numerous boards including Chairman of the Board at Central State University. She currently serves on the boards of Judson Retirement Community and The Cleveland Natural History Museum.
Patrick Shepherd
Patrick Shepherd, Cleveland, associate director of the Cleveland International Film Festival. Mr. Shepherd founded the Cleveland Stonewall Democrats to organize lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and allied Democrats across Cuyahoga County. He served as president of the Cleveland Stonewall Democrats until 2007. He also served five successive terms on the National Stonewall Democrats Board of Directors since the organization’s founding in 1998.
Jazmin Torres-Lugo
Jazmin Torres-Lugo, Cleveland, is the first Latina judge in Ohio. She was a Cleveland Municipal Court judge in 2003 and is now a lawyer in private practice. She is an advocate in housing issues with the Spanish-American Committee. She conducted a housing study in Cleveland, which lead to changes in lending and investing in the Hispanic community.
Sandra Williams
Sandra Williams, Cleveland, is a Democratic State Representative from the 11th District (Brooklyn Heights, Cuyahoga Heights, Newburg Heights, and parts of Cleveland). Representative Williams is the Chair of the House Economic Development Committee, Vice Chair of the Public Utilities Committee, and serves on the Financial Institutions, Real Estate, and Securities Committee, as well as the Veterans Affairs committee. She is also a professor at Tiffin University.
